Clayton Kenneth Moon (19) born August 1, 1997 in Vernal, Utah to Holly (Gurr) Hockaday and Kory Moon. Clayton went to Heaven on March 13, 2017 in a tragic car accident in Boulder County, Colorado on his way home from work. Clayton grew up in Vernal, Utah, and Hayden and Craig, Colorado. After graduating from Moffat County High School in Craig, Clayton moved to Dacono and went to school at Redstone College where he graduated with honors. Clayton worked for Meyers Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. as an HVAC service technician and lived with his cousin Jace Trujillo and Jace’s girlfriend Skyler Berry in Dacono, Colorado for the last 2 years.
Clayton loved life. He played ice hockey while in High School and liked the mountains, snowboarding camping and fishing. He loved spending time with his cousins and most of them would consider him their favorite. With his quick wit and wild eyebrows Clayton looked like he was ready for mischief. He always had a joke ready, frequently about himself and his missing toe that he lost in a work accident while in High School, and his laughter was contagious. His loving and generous personality warmed the hearts of us all. Clayton was taken from us way too early in his young and promising life.
Clayton is survived by his mother Holly and step-dad Jay Dee Hockaday; step-sister and step-brother Haley and Dalton Hockaday; his father Kory Moon, step-mom Jessica; half-brother Ethan and step-sister Amber; his grandparents Reed Gurr and Kenneth and Theresa Moon; Great grandparents Ralph and Myrna Cooley; aunts and uncles Traci (Tony) Arbaney, Jenifer Gurr, Randy (Sheri) Gurr, Vicki (Steve) Cless, Debbie (Clint) Morrill, Tina (Sam) Dansie, Ronda Blackburn, Collett (Brett) Thacker; cousins Sami Jo McIntyre, Nicole (Johnny) Gardner, Jace Trujillo, Billy Slade Gurr, Shania Gurr, Keith Pettingill, Nikki Pettingill, Kyle Carter, Skyler Cless, Austin Cless, Jori Cless, Morgan (Robbie) Petty, Payton Peed, Cynthia (Cody) Olive, Dylan Morrill, Derek Morrill, Megan Dansie, Alyssa Dansie, Bowdy Dansie, Paisley Johnson, Chase Blackburn, and Lexie and Ashlee Thacker.
Waiting in Heaven for Clayton was his grandma Jackie Gurr, uncle-in-law Rodney Blackburn and his great-grandparents Earl and Bula Gurr, Jenna Vieve and Travers Nielson, and Richard and Betty Moon.
