Brandon James Ries
Brandon Ries, age 18, died on Friday, September 16, 2016 while running in a cross country meet in Broomfield, Colorado. He was born on June 26, 1998 to James and Charmaine Ries in Boulder, Colorado, and attended both Rocky Mountain Christian Academy and Peak to Peak Charter School, where he was a senior.
Brandon was very active in his church, having made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a gentle witness for Christ in his words and deeds within his school and community. Peers and teachers recognized him as an encourager who was kind, considerate of others, and confidently optimistic. A willing worker and helper, he enjoyed serving others in his community, such as leading and mentoring younger students at school and church. He had a special bond with his sisters, and enjoyed spending time with extended family in S. Dakota.
Music held a special place in his life, and he excelled in both piano and trumpet. He was co-captain of his cross country team, and loved baseball, board games, and other academic pursuits. He was an enthusiastic learner and an avid reader.
Cherishing Brandon’s memory are his parents, James and Charmaine Ries; sisters, Jillian and Jadyn; grandfather, Jonathan Mendel; aunts and uncles, Steve Mendel, Milton (Julie) Mendel, Dennis (Shirley) Ries, Sharon (Jim) Hansen, Joyce (Lynn) Goehring, Diane Peterson, Duane (Donna) Ries, and many well-loved cousins.
Brandon was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Angie Mendel and Doris Ries, and his grandfather, Lester Ries.
Brandon’s service will be held at Calvary Bible Church – Erie Campus at 10:30am on Friday, September 23. Visitation will be held Thursday, 5-7:30pm, at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary in Boulder.
